ActionAid's Lera Town Fund
Following the incredible support for Vicky’s Water Project, ActionAid have created the Lera Town Fund.
The fund offers a hugely tangible opportunity for supporters of Vicky’s Water Project to continue to transform the lives of the people they bought water to. Funds raised will be used on vital projects prioritised by the people of Lera, such as education, healthcare and income generation that are so desperately needed and can be focused upon now that clean water, the most basic of needs, is in place.
As more and more eager children are expected to come to the Lera Town School (955 are expected this year - double the number who attended the previous year), there is an increased demand for classrooms. There are currently two shifts to teach all the pupils and as demand will undoubtedly continue to rise, more teaching facilities are desperately needed.
Eight classrooms have already been built by the community with support from ActionAid and the regional government. Now the Lera Town Fund – ActionAid’s fantastic response to Vicky’s Water Project - could give so many more children the hope of an education by providing an additional classroom. And yet more hope for a brighter, happier future.
